Why does beatport have territory restrictions

Im not sure if a us debit card will work,since I havnt tried buying it yet. The VPN is located in Amsterdam. Music companies are stupid. First they want you to buy music legally but then they make to hard to buy. I bet you could pirate those tracks in a few minutes. I've been on a fair few websites that when you try to watch a video or anything it does not let you do so due to being outside USA.

It's not just the music companies that are stupid :school:. I really don't understand why a territory restriction is put onto music from a country such as Romania,where its a much smaller market. I'm not to worried about maybe getting a complaint,as I am promoting the artist by playing it early and I am buying it at a full price from a place such as emusic ,not torrenting it or getting bootleg cd.

You get a lot of trash. Only experience will tell you what the good candidates are on a given list. I usually avoid proxies using the port numbers for that reason. If Google and Beatport load fine, but your song is still territory restricted, then you have a proxy in the wrong country. Do a little more research on the label and artist. People that go through the steps above to purchase a track instead of downloading readilly available mp3s from blogs should be applauded, as they are trully dedicated to supporting the artist instead of taking a much easier short cut.

Unfortunatly, they make up a minority, and I would argue that most artists end up losing more sales than they gain over these territory restrictions. We know there must be some good reason to have them though- so Beatport, if your out there, could you fill us in and perhaps help everyone understand this problem from your side?

Every track is territory restricted. Some time ago I tried the trick described at DJtechtools to bypass the restriction by using a foreign proxy and it worked great. I managed to download the track I was looking for. Now I want to buy som more music from Mr.

Harris but for some reason I can't remove the restriction. I've tried with a German and Dutch proxy with no luck. I'm pretty sure that this album is released in the Netherlands. Does anybody know if Beatport has stopped this trick from working or haven't found the correct country yet?
