My only sincere regret that still haunts me greatly is allowing our old Landlords the Peabody Trust. Would it not be great if I could succeed in bringing a clubs youth set-up to the club making this club a true community club rather as we are now a one team club, what we need is a pyramid of young teams with a clear pathway to playing for the first-team, all wearing the colours of the club, being involved on matchdays.

That is what I miss, seeing young players in the clubs colours being around the ground, it may be a dream, but hey stranger things have happened in nonleague football. We go into today again on another little run of five games I think — having won the two games that we managed to play over Christmas. But the overall picture for me is a positive one for the club — I think the aura around the place even away from the football has higher expectations with the levels expected to come from Thamesmead Town Football Club increasing all the time.

I think for the first time this season we have genuine competition all over the pitch for places. See you in Champs bar after the game, Cheers!

Tommy Warrilow First-Team Manager. Having weather playing a big part in our festive programme we played just the once in the three scheduled games, but we were still able to take the three points against Molesey last weekend.

Just like to say congrats to Max in goal last week for the clean sheet and an overall good — if at times an eye watering — performance! We all know that we go again today and as always, we thank you for your support and backing. Well, we lost to Billericay who in turn lost to Leatherhead, before they lost to Wycombe in the Second Round. Why not sponsor your Mead favourite? Like the idea? May I start my notes by wishing you all a happy and prosperous New Year and I hope everyone who celebrated it had a great Christmas, too. Academy life continues, and our lads returned to training and the education programme on Thursday, where we put them through their paces with high intensity interval training and small sided games.

Steve has been offered more work within the FA and the Chairman, the players and I would like to thank Steve for his tremendous hard-working efforts and his professionalism whilst working with us.

We all wish him well in his new role. It was encouraging to see the majority had maintained their fitness levels and we are all looking forward to the games between now and the end of the season. On this note, the Chairman and I would also like to thank Linda King our tutor for her total commitment to the scheme and the lads. She has been a rock for these young scholars and continues to make the education fun and enjoyable.

Many thanks. Our next match is away to Millwall Lions next Wednesday — January 10th — and a match report by one of the players will be in the next programme notes.

Quite often, one or two of the lads who have been putting in steady performances, start to show improvement and force themselves into the frame of the watchful eye of Tom and Alex.
